Many cities in the
US are beginning to use Wi-Fi technology to provide free or
inexpensive internet access to their residents. Some people also
believe that wireless networking will become so widespread, that
most of the metropolitan areas will be covered meaning you could
access the internet from virtually anywhere.
How WiFi Works
Wireless Internet Access uses high-frequency radio technology to transmit
data signals, allowing internet use in your home, office or on the
go. There is no need to plug into any modem or dialup any ISPs. If you are on the go, most laptops today come equipped with a
wireless adapter that is able to detect WiFi spots and transmit data through these
connections.
WiFi though Cell Providers
Now you can also connect from virtually
anywhere. Cell phone providers have an enhanced wireless card that allows your laptop to connect anywhere you would
normally receive a cell phone signal. Some phones like the iPhone
already come equipped with all you would need to connect to the
internet.
