New Resort Maps App - A Skier's Perfect Companion

Croyden, U.K.

If the winter season is your prime time for enjoying the beautiful scenery and action of skiing or snowboarding, a new iPhone app may be the perfect complement to plan your time at your favorite resort.

The Resort Maps App, provided by Complete Ski out of Croyden U.K., uses GPS to help ski enthusiasts look up a wide array of information online, including nearby trails, finding nearby ski lifts, and evaluating resorts.

The no-cost app obtains a skier's location via GPS, and then maps out all nearby points of interest so that the information can then be easily accessed whether the skier is on the slopes at the time or not. Currently, the app includes a detailed resort guide for 22 popular resorts in France, Austria, Switzerland, the US and Canada, plans are in the works to extend the app's reach.

Skiers and snowboarders alike will, in the future, be able to access resort information with a paid, but 'no cost to roam' version of the app, which will help them to reduce the costs of using the app while far from home.

Globally, the market for apps is thriving with the rising demand to have pertinent information a tap or click away. In fact, TechCrunch recently reported that the app market is expected to earn well over twelve billion British pounds by the end of 2012.

In addition, it is predicted that before year's end, there will be over 10 million apps on the market.

It's quickly being discovered that smartphone apps are an incredibly efficient and profitable way for businesses to reach potential customers with direct sales messages. But some challenges must be overcome, such as leveraging market gaps and getting an app noticed in a sea teeming with them.

But the Resort Map App is being touted as one which has succeeded on both counts. This is due to the fact that it offers skiers and snowboarders with much more than the numerous 'snow type' apps on the market, and is useful for more than one group of snow or ski enthusiast.

According to the release, the Resort Maps App will continue to be available for free download from the iPhone store.
